The Moscow authorities have put the Gorizont and Strela movie theaters up for sale, according to a statement from the capital's Department for Competition Policy ( Tender Committee ). Both movie theaters are part of one of the largest networks, Formula Kino.

The starting price for Gorizont is 252.1 million rubles, for Strela - 320.8 million rubles. Both cinemas are located in the central Moscow district of Khamovniki. The auction is scheduled for August 18, 2014, and applications for participation in the bidding will begin on July 15, according to the Tender Committee materials.

The Gorizont cinema with a total area of 2080 sq. m is located in a one-story built-in/extended non-residential premises with an underground floor. The cinema was built in 1964 and has been reconstructed several times. Currently, the cinema has four halls, and it is possible to show films in 3D format. The Strela cinema with an area of 564.8 sq. m is located in a similar one-story extension to a residential building. It was built in 1956. The cinema has 2 auditoriums.

In addition, the city authorities intend to sell the building of the former Orlyonok cinema, located on Rusakovskaya Street in the Sokolniki district. The building, with an area of 1,040 square meters, was built in 1897. The starting price of the lot is 207 million rubles. The auction is scheduled for August 25.

Earlier, the Tender Committee removed the Ashgabat, Sayany, Planeta and Yantar movie theaters from the auction due to a lack of applications. The auction for their sale was to take place on June 19, 2014. The starting price of the objects is 1.246 billion rubles. It is not yet known whether the lot will be put up for auction again. In total, the Moscow Department of Competition Policy plans to sell 39 movie theaters to private investors in the future. Moscow currently owns 78 movie theaters.
