“A studio of Grekov’s military artists created an impressive sculptural composition dedicated to the courage of Russian soldiers in the battles of the First World War. We plan to open these monuments in December this year, ”said Pankov at a meeting of the Organizational Committee of the Russian Historical Society for the preparation of events related to the centenary of the beginning of the First World War.
According to the deputy minister, the composition will be installed on the Frunze embankment in Moscow near the building of the Ministry of Defense.
In addition, by the centenary of the First World War, the Ministry of Defense is planned to be an extensive cultural program, within the framework of which exhibitions, concerts and events will be held aimed at restoring the historical memory of the dramatic events of this period and replenishment by the new names of the heroic annals of Russia and its armed forces.
During the First World War, every fifth man was mobilized in the Russian Empire. The number of killed and wounded, according to various sources, amounted to from 3.7 to 6.6 million soldiers and officers.
