The German brand Smart officially presented the new generation in Berlin City Kara Fortwo and Forfour. A double car will go on sale at a price of not higher than 11 thousand euros, and four -seater will cost 600 euros more.
Both models retained a recognizable design, but the design of the front of the body has become more expressive thanks to the modified radiator grille with a cellular grid, enlarged headlights with integrated daily running lights and a higher hood, the LiveCars website writes.
Three equipment options will be available for the model. The basic equipment will turn on the system of non-closing access to the salon, cruise control, the outer temperature sensor and the LCD display on the dashboard. In the top versions of City Kara will be offered with a multifunction steering wheel, heated seats and JBL audio system.
Since the start of sales, the model can be ordered with two different engines: a liter "atmospheric" with a capacity of 71 hp. (91 nm) and a 0.9-liter turbo engine developing 90 hp (135 Nm). After a few months, Smart will begin to offer low -profiles with a “basic gasoline engine” with a capacity of 60 hp. Regardless of the selection of the unit, Fortwo and Forfour will receive a five -speed “mechanics” or a six -band “robot” of Twinamic with two clutches to choose from.
According to Carscope , the car manufacturer conducted a non-standard front-line crash test of the new Smart, encountering it with a heavy flagship Mercedes-Benz S-Class at a speed of 50 km/h with a 50 percent overlap. The test showed that the space for passengers remained untouched.
Smart sales in Europe will begin in November this year, the public world premiere will be held in October at the Paris Motor Show. Whether the model will be sold in Russia is still unclear. The current generation is offered with a 1.0-liter engine at a price of 640 thousand rubles.
