“Before going to see her in the pre-trial detention center, I did not watch a single video about her, so as not to blur the first impression of the meeting.

We had to wait for a long time in the waiting room of the detention center; visiting hours had long since ended, and the Ukrainian consul, who was allowed to see her for the first time, never came out. All the other visitors had already left. We, three Moscow lawyers, were asked to wait.

Finally, at the beginning of seven, we were allowed inside. In a stuffy meeting chamber behind a glass door, a young woman in a gray tracksuit from Sportmaster was waiting for us.
