Announced Long list of the Buker Prize

Today, July 23, 13 works included in the Long List of the Buker Prize, which the authors of the works in English, regardless of which country they live for the first time, are the first to live in.

Earlier, the award was awarded only to writers from the countries of the Commonwealth of Nations, Ireland or Zimbabwe. In 2013, the trustees of the Buker Prize decided to cancel this restriction.

As a result, this year, the BBC notes, among the authors of works included in the Long List, in addition to the British, only one writer represents the Commonwealth of Nations-Richard Flanagan from Australia. At the same time, there are four Americans at once.

Of the previous laureates of Boker this season, Howard Jacobson, who received a reward in 2010, claims the award this season . At the same time, books of such famous writers as Ian Mcueun and Donna Tartt did not get into the long list.

The short list of the Buker Prize will be announced on September 9, the laureate-October 14.
