The Ambassador of Russia to the UN Vitaly Churkin admitted that the terrorists could bring down the Malaysian Boeing-777 by mistake, taking it for a Ukrainian military aircraft.According to CNN, the Russian diplomat made such a statement on Monday, trying to pole the militants.

“People from the east said that they had shot down a military aircraft,” said Churkin. “If they thought that they were shot down by a military aircraft, then they were mistaken. And if they were mistaken, then not an act of terrorism.”

As it became known on Wednesday, the American special services also came to the conclusion that Boeing was shot down, most likely, by mistake. As analysts concluded, terrorists believed that they were attacked by the Ukrainian military transport aircraft. They suggested that the mistake could be caused by poor preparation of operators and the absence of other radar systems.

In addition, experts admitted that they did not have direct evidence of the participation of the Russian military in the shelling of the liner and in the preparation of terrorists who knocked it down.

Meanwhile, the head of the main operational department of the Russian General Staff , Lieutenant General Andrei Kartapolov, on Monday, claimed that the Ukrainian Su-25 attack aircraft flew after Boeing. He also stated that the Russian Ministry of Defense had space pictures with the location of Ukrainian air defense systems, which confirm that on July 17, one of the Ukrainian air defense systems “Buk” was moved to the area captured by terrorists.
