The Tbilisi court arrested Saakashvili in absentia


The Tbilisi City Court in absentia elected preliminary conclusion as a preventive measure against the ex-president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili, the news agency News-Georgia reports.

According to the report, according to the results of the three -hour meeting, the court decided to satisfy the request of the prosecutor's office and decided to do the absentee arrest of Saakashvili. A similar measure of restraint was elected in relation to the ex-Minister of Justice Zurab Aadeishvili and the ex-minister of defense David Kzerashvili-the defendants in the case of the dispersal of the opposition campaign in November 2007.

On July 29, the main prosecutor's office of Georgia brought Saakavli the charge of exceeding the official powers. According to investigators, the politician illegally gave the security officials to disperse the opposition rally in November 2007. In addition, the former president is accused of defeating the local television company Imedi and the confiscation of the assets of entrepreneur Badri Patarkatsishvili.

A criminal case has been instituted under Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Georgia "Exceeding of official powers using violence or weapons and with a humiliation of the personal dignity of the victim." The maximum punishment under this article provides for up to eight years in prison.
