
The program director of the Sakhalin International Film Festival "The End of the World" and the "Message to the Man" Alexei Medvedev said that the famous director Kira Muratov, and several more foreign filmmakers, refused to participate in his supervised festival for political reasons. Among the refusing, Medvedev called the Ukrainian production artist Yevgeny Golubenko, directors from the United States Boris Frumin and Gregga Araki, as well as the film composer Siger Umabayashi.
"And you know why? Because our country is still led by Putin Vladimir Vladimirovich. In my opinion, it's time to do something, no?" - wrote Medvedev.

Medvedev told the publication that Kira Muratova was never going to the Sakhalin Film Festival, and in his record on Facebook there was no indication of which film festival, of those that he overseas, the famous director would not come.
In his Facebook, Medvedev also explained that he deleted the post about Kira Muratov because "it is not very correct to turn my post into a news notes without receiving, for example, my comment on the phone."
IV Sakhalin International Film Festival "End of the World" will be held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk from August 22 to 29. Now a competitive program is being formed, which will include about ten films. It is already known that among them there will be "another year" Oksana Bychkova.
According to the results of the festival, the Grand Prix, prizes to the best director, actor and actress, prize prize of the honorary president of the festival Alla Surikova and the prize of spectator sympathy are awarded.
