In addition, Valio has a contract production of drinking yogurts Valio Clean Label and Kafir Bioproduct Valio Gefilus at the Galaxy factory in Gatchina. Milk for these products is supplied with two local farms certified by the company in the Leningrad Region.
On Monday, the Valio press service said that the company began the search for Russian suppliers for its plant in Yershovo. The company did not exclude that part of the personnel will be sent on a forced vacation "until a complete clarification of the situation", and temporary labor contracts will not be extended with part of the employees. “Valio does not plan to reduce personnel and will avoid in all possible ways,” the message emphasizes.
Valio produces and supplies to the Russian market not only dairy products, but also juices, fruit drinks, jelly, water and some other products. Their deliveries did not fall under the ban.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of products prohibited from import from countries that imposed sanctions against Russia. It included goods produced in the USA, Canada, European Union, Norway and Australia. The products of Switzerland and Japan, which also imposed sanctions against Russia, are not prohibited to import.
The list fell: beef; pork; poultry meat; sausages and similar products, as well as products from them; fish and seafood; milk and dairy products, including on vegetable fats; vegetables, root crops and tuber; Fruits and nuts. An exception to these categories of products is made only for baby food.
The list was adopted by the on the eve of the Decree of Vladimir Putin "On the application of individual special economic measures in order to ensure the security of the Russian Federation." The ban was explained by the "protection of the national interests of the Russian Federation."
The embargo was introduced for a period of one year. At the same time, Putin’s decree admits the adjustment of the list of prohibited goods to "ensure the balance of commodity markets and prevent accelerated prices for agricultural and food products."
