Dmitry Viktorovich Anosov died

The great mathematician and an outstanding person passed away.

Anosov’s name is associated with one of the most striking events in mathematics of the 20th century - the so -called “hyperbolic revolution” in the theory of dynamic systems. The question of how the typical dynamic system looks like A.A. Andronov and teacher Anosov, L.S. Pontryagin. They also gave an answer for small dimensions. This answer was quite consistent with what could be called "familiar intuition."

The hyperbolic revolution brought with it a “fracture of evidence” (words of Pasternak). She opened a new world of visual images in mathematics. This happened in the late 50s - early 60s of the last century, thanks to the joint efforts of Smayle (USA), Anosov, Arnold, Sinai and their students. Since then, “Anosov’s systems”, “Anosov diphteromorphisms” have become constant objects of study over more than a half -past.

Under the leadership of the announcement, two of his students, Brin and Pest, laid the foundation for the “partially hyperbolic theory” (1974), which is now developing intensively. With the support of Dmitry Viktorovich, the famous Pesin Theory was created, which quickly gained popularity throughout the mathematical world. Before the onset of perestroika, the creative activity of scientists of “non -Aryan nationality” often did not meet the support of the authorities in the USSR. Dmitry Viktorovich made a lot of efforts to ensure that mathematicians “with a bad blood group” realize their creative potential.

The principle of Dr. Haaz, one of the ascetics of the XIX century is known: "Hurry to do good!" Dmitry Viktorovich has followed this principle all his life. He was always ready to support a worthy person or a good undertaking if he had such an opportunity. Twenty years ago, Dmitry Viktorovich participated in the creation of the Moscow Center for continuous mathematical education. Now this organization brings great benefits to the mathematical education of schoolchildren throughout the country.

Dmitry Viktorovich was a wonderful family man. Let me express a deep sympathy for his selfless wife Lidia Ivanovna and the wonderful daughter Olga, as well as all his relatives and friends.
