According to the State Research Museum of Architecture named after A.V. Schuseva, the curator of the memorial exposition will be the granddaughter of the architect, Elena Melnikova.
The recreation of the exposition will begin with a scientific inventory and photofixation of the suburbs that were in Melnikov’s house in Krivoarbatsky Lane from the moment of its construction in 1929-furniture, painting, decorative arts and life, photographs and archival materials.
According to the will of the son of Konstantin Melnikov, the artist of Viktor Melnikov, they should become part of the Melnikov State Museum, created by the Ministry of Culture in February this year as a branch of the Museum of Architecture.
After the death of Viktor Melnikov in 2006, part of the memorial atmosphere was lost, inconsistent construction work was carried out in the building, distorting the historical appearance of the monument, and now he needs restoration.
Melnikov’s house with a recreated memorial atmosphere will become part of the museum and will be open immediately after the completion of the preparation of the exposition. Visiting Melnikov’s house will be organized taking into account the recommendations of specialists, by preliminary records of groups of 5-7 people, accompanied by a guide.
The place of placement of the permanent exposition and storage of the work of Konstantin and Viktor Melnikov will be a separate building located on Vozdvizhenka Street. There, the exposition will open in 2015.
