OUR ALIENS
This volume is a mirror copy of the issue “Russia as Another” (No. 5, 2007), once compiled from translated materials describing how foreigners at different times saw Russia, how they assessed it, and how they built relationships with Russians. This time we decided to begin the search for a new Russian/Russian identity, to replace the Soviet one, lost a quarter of a century ago, on the other hand, and tried to describe how the inhabitants of Russia perceived and perceive other peoples and other countries. All nations, when defining themselves, start from the image of the “Other”. We made a brief inventory of Russian “others” in order to clarify our own image.
