Valery Ilyinichna told how in 1991 she sat in Lefortovo, there was no connection with the outside world what was happening in the country - she did not know, the jailers wanted to let them out, but only if they signed the paper that they would not take any actions against the Soviet regime. She refused to sign, as a result, she was kicked out of prison, but she did not go, because she was afraid that some kind of piece of paper was signed for her, and this was another provocation. She was unbending, she would have gone to Golgof, and the guillotine, and to the Lubyanka basement, just not to renounce what she believed in.

 “She wrote to us speakers about poets, writers and other celebrities, she did not know how to use the computer, just sat down and wrote by hand - all the dates, names, facts, historical jokes took from her head. She fed the entire editorial office with chocolate sweets - she gave prizes for good articles (and in our journal, in her opinion, all articles were good).
