Gogol Center opens the season

Today, August 15, the performance of Zhenya Berkovich “Russian Beauty” based on the novel by Viktor Erofeev opens the third season of the Moscow Gogol Center under the leadership of Kirill Serebrennikov.

“The season will last, as it should be, until the next summer, but it will consist of two parts - the first will continue until October inclusive. After that, the theater building will close for repairs, which will be, presumably, until February 2015, ” ITAR-TASS said in the press service of Gogol-Center.

The season will be renewed in March 2015. “Currently, negotiations are underway with a number of metropolitan theaters about the possibility of providing a site for the performances of the Gogol Center during the repair,” the theater representative explained.

In the first part of the season, several prime ministers are planned, among which “Nine” by Sergey Vinogradov based on the film “Nine Days of one year” and “Stalker” Evgeny Grigoryev, which is based on the first version of the scenario of Andrei Tarkovsky, based on the film.

These performances are included in a series of productions of film scene of foreign films. The first in this series was the theatrical debut of film director Alexei Mizgirev “Brothers” based on Lukino Visconti “Rocco and his brothers”, then the “idiots” were followed by Kirill Serebrennikov based on the film by Lars von Trier and “Fear” by Vladislav Ventavshev according to Rainer Verner Verner Fassbinder.

In addition, at the numerous requests of the audience, fans of the Seventh Studio, the performance of the Fairy directed by David Boba is returning to the stage.
