The State Duma deputy from Fair Russia, the leader of the Russian Party of Pensioners for Justice, Igor Zotov prepared a bill that increases the income tax for foreign Fastfood enterprises from 20 to 23 percent. This was reported by Izvestia.

“There are many elderly people in the ranks of our party who are concerned about the health of the younger generation,” Zotov explained the meaning of their initiative. “Grandmothers complain that their grandchildren exchanged their steam cutlets and mashed potatoes for chisburger and freet potatoes.” Meanwhile, the deputy added, doctors proved the harmfulness of fast food. He also noted that "up to 50 percent of all diseases of Russians are associated with poor nutrition."

The introduction of increased tax, continued Zotov, will lead to an increase in prices in fast food enterprises, and therefore to a decrease in their attendance. At the same time, the budget will receive additional funds for the development of the health healing system, the deputy noted.

At the same time, Zotov admitted that his bill is also determined by political considerations, since it represents a "peculiar response to the USA and some European countries." “Among the largest American fast -food networks,” the deputy noted, “there are companies that actively finance the largest political parties in the United States, pay congressmen, senators, governors and presidents, thereby providing harmful assistance to the implementation of the White House policy in relation to Russia.”

The deputy chairman of the Duma Committee on Health, Uneneros, Sergei Dorofeev approved the bill of Zotov. “He always believed that fast food is unhealthy food,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the vice-speaker of the Federation Council, member of the Upper Chamber Committee on Budget and Financial Markets, United Russia, Evgeny Bushmin, criticized the bill of Zotova. “I am against such a proposal, although an increase (tax. - Ed.) Will not affect the activities of these companies,” he said. “As for the sanctions, I didn’t think about it. I don’t like the tax raising, because we promised the business that we will not raise taxes.”

“It seems to me that in this case it is all the same - the Russian or not Russian company,” Bushmin continued. “It is not clear which company, when everything has been sold to Russian investors for a long time. There is just a name, get a franchise - and nothing more.”
