At the request of Roskomnadzor dated August 16, 2014 No. 27-27-2014 / ID 2520-14, the article “Parade of Sovereignties 2.0” was removed from the website www.newtimes.ru at 15:45 on August 16, 2014
The editors sent a request to the department with a request for clarification: what words, phrases, paragraphs of the article contained “calls for riots, extremist activities, participation in mass (public) events held in violation of the established procedure”, as indicated in the “Notice of Violation the procedure for the dissemination of information on the territory of the Russian Federation”.
The article “Parade of Sovereignties 2.0” was posted on the website www.newtimes.ru at 21:35 on August 15, 2014, the notification came at 14:07 on August 16, 2014. There is no article in the paper issue of the edition.
The article did not contain any calls for "mass riots" or any other acts prohibited by law. We did our job: we told the readers of the site about the processes that are going on in the country, as required by our profession. We work for the reader, who has the right to know how fellow citizens in different parts of the country live and what they are concerned about. Therefore, we will seek clarification from the authorities on what basis the right of our readers to information was limited.
