Singer Pierre Vassiliu died

On Sunday, August 17, at the age of 76, the French singer and author of songs Pierre Vassiliu died.

According to Le Monde , in recent years the musician suffered from Parkinson's disease and died in the Seta City Hospital in the south of France.

Pierre Vassiliu was born in 1937 in Geneva, in the late 1950s he debuted on the Paris stage, speaking with a concert in the Kabar L'Eclose. In 1962, Vassiliu recorded the debut single “Armand” , which was dispersed by a circulation of more than 150 thousand copies.

The singer was invited to open The Beatles concerts at Olympia, after which he went on a tour with Francoise Ardi, Jacques Dutroncom and Johnny Holyiday.

Soon Vassiliu recorded several more popular single, including Charlotte , Ivanhoe and La Femme du Sergent . In 1964, the musician received the proposal of film director Claude Lelush to write music for his film “Girl and Roze ”. Subsequently, Vassiliu became the author of the soundtracks to many other films.

Vassili's songs at that time were performed by Claude Francois, Yves Montan, Eddie Mitchell, Marlene Dietrich. The first full -size studio album, “Amour amitié” , recorded Vassili only in 1969. After that, the new records came out regularly until the beginning of the 2000s.

In the second half of the 1980s, Vassili lived for several years in Senegal, where he founded a jazz club. One of the last projects of the musician was the album of Senegal folklore in 2003.
