The program of the Year of Culture of Russia in the UK will be reduced

Russia is forced to refuse to carry out several events of the "cross" year of culture of Great Britain and Russia.

This was announced by Rossiy Gazeta by Konstantin Kosachev, head of the CIS Federal Agency, compatriots living abroad, and international humanitarian cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).

“We had certain plans for the holding of resonant promotions - the Russian Constitution festival, a student forum, a children's forum - which we spent very successfully a year ago in the Netherlands, in the year before last - in Germany, and before - in Italy, Spain and France. - said Kosachev. “In the UK, these events are likely to not take place, but this is already beyond the competence of Rossotrudnichestvo.”

The head of Rossotrudnichestvo also commented on the decision of the Polish government to cancel the holding of the year of Poland in Russia.

“If the cross -year with Poland is terminated by political or bureaucratic decisions as an interstate program, then in the place of our Ministry of Culture, which makes such decisions, I would only increase the number of Russian events, cultural actions and tour, exhibitions - all that is connected with cultural exchanges with this important and close to us,” Kosachev said.

In his opinion, "any sanctions are erroneous and short -sighted, but they are all the more vicious when they begin to affect the humanitarian sphere and contacts between people."
