The second generation of the Chevrolet Niva SUV, a prototype of which will be presented at the Moscow Motor Show next week, will receive a French engine, Wroom reports with reference to the Chevy-Niva Club forum.
According to the website, the Chevrolet Niva is designed on a new platform with permanent all-wheel drive and reduction gear.
The car will be equipped with a 1.8-liter engine producing 136 hp. (torque - 172 Nm). This is a French PSA motor of the new EC8 series, created for the markets of China, India and South America. The power unit will be produced in Tolyatti, probably from Brazilian or Chinese components.
Now the PSA EC8 1.8 engine is installed in the Citroen C4L sedan for the Chinese market. We offer Peugeot 301 and Citroen C-Elysee models equipped with the EC5 engine - a 1.6-liter version of the power unit, reminiscent of Wroom.
The gearbox will be produced by the Tolyatti High-Precision Parts Plant together with the Indian specialized company Avtec. At the same time, according to the Chevy-Niva Club, the unit was developed on the basis of a box created back in the 1980s for installation on Isuzu SUVs of various models.
The official premiere of the new Chevrolet Niva will take place next week at the Moscow Motor Show.
