The path from the Maidan

"FINE!" - I exclaimed almost aloud when, after a crescent break (summer!) I got to the Maidan of Nezalevniy. Fine! The space, the entire volume of the area and the adjacent Khreshchatyk was for the first time in more than eight months clean, bright, low -minded, spacious and rest. Enjoying this unusual feeling, I suddenly realized to what extent I was tired (and probably many or many residents of Kyiv) from the military barricade camp in the heart of the city. The camp, this Urbanistic Zaporizhzhya Sich of the 21st century, was absolutely necessary to put the clouded regime of Yanukovych in place, which, as it turned out, meant: to eliminate this regime. The struggling camp of the vast majority of Kiev and residents of Ukraine supported. And this camp - after the victory, after moving the fronts of the struggle to the updated authorities, into thousands of public brain and organizational centers in Kyiv and throughout the country, into the war zone in the Donbass - gradually turned into a degrading remnant, lagging behind the super -free pace of modern Ukrainian life.

The relic is sometimes a parody ridiculous: on a green hill above the metropolitan area, at spacious and already unsultent tents, the beds of wrecked, carefully watered tomatoes flaunted! Very cute and very Ukrainian, of course, but for the center of the 45-millionth European country, you see, a little too much. More often, this material rudiment of the Maidan-revolution was an unpleasant parody and, worse, dangerous.

Dangerous, firstly, in the most ordinary, everyday sense. At its initial stage, for three months of the revolution of dignity, the space behind the Maidan’s ramparts (except for several of the most acute days of clashes) was the safest in the center of Kyiv: the gangs of “titles” and “left-icing organs” were attended outside its territory in the city, and on the Maidan, due to the atmosphere of the partnership, mutual assistance, dustry, and the community of tens of thousands of people came, calmness came, peace Good, cheerful mood. I saw a man for all these months for three or four, and one was already withdrawn from the territory, and several more security at the gate did not allow the barricades to pass. From the Maidan-Rudiment, these human warmth and generosity, combat organization and discipline have gone, and the companies of the drinking youths and girls, men and women became common on it, it was often possible to see people with inadequate, behaving unpredictably or simply aggressively (possibly because of the post-traumatic syndrome).

Secondly, the Maidan-Rudiment became-in general and especially in the current military situation-is dangerous for Ukraine. Partly, by virtue of the previously said, and partly due to the fact that the fair mass of politically charmingly thinking people (or even frank lumpen) could be used for political provocations, unprofessed power actions to destabilize the situation, remaining on the square. Finally, the Maidan-Rudiment, with its sharply fallen level of self-organization and sanitary conditions, could-especially in the conditions of summer heat-become a source of large epidemic problems for himself and for the city.

So I - both as a Kiev inhabitant and as a citizen of Ukraine - welcome the new appearance of the "pure" Maidan as his optimal condition for August 2014. It is no coincidence that the date is indicated. I (and, I believe, the huge majority of Ukrainians) in the future I see the Independence Square and Khreshchatyk in places fateful for the country and the nation of historical events - renewed, included memorial signs of these events, wider, more powerfully conceptually and architecturally rethought. This is required by a new national identity and the new international status of Ukraine. However, with regard to the very process of achieving this beneficial present state of the Maidan, I have (as expressed in Soviet times in the service sector), “complaints and proposals”.

I hope that the free Independence Square and Khreshchatyk, Ukraine and the whole world will see the parade of winners - the heroes of the Maidan

I watched with interest all the months after the Maidan’s victory processes going on the central square of Kyiv: the way the Maidan-territory was reduced by the same and gently (“evolutionarily”), dying due to natural social processes and reasons. And the newly elected Kiev authorities behaved very smart about and worthy. It followed the social nature of the phenomenon, “formalizing” and organizing this natural process of his withering away: the inhabitants of the Maidan became smaller, the tents were gradually empty, released, and they were calmly, without any police, “in the working order” were removed either by the inhabitants of the Maidan, or the communal members of Kyiv (he himself saw such a picture once in the evening). Then the authorities and representatives of the Maidan-territory agreed, and cars drove to the slotting of Bogdan Khmelnitsky on the segment from Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street again. And even earlier, they agreed on the release of the protesters of the city hall building in order to normalize the management of the city.

In this regard, the history of the Ukrainian house (cultural and concert-exhibition center "At the beginning" of Khreshchatyk, on the European Square, is the former building of the Lenin Museum), in which, until recently, about 400 (!) People lived. Its new director, a participant in the Maidan-Revolution, was engaged in the fact that he talked with the centurions and the public of Ukrdom-explained, convinced, developed ways to solve the problem, the device of the future fate of the Maidanists ... As a result, the majority agreed to free the buildings. Several percent of the “stubborn”, which are always in any group, remained in the minority and were also forced to agree under the pressure of the team. As a result, some of the inhabitants of Ukrdom joined the post -revolutionary organizational structures, the other went to free the Donbass terrorists, and some simply bought tickets and helped to go home.

Perhaps imperfect, but quite real and efficient democracy in action. In general, it was obvious that in order to eliminate the Maidan-camp, which became an obstacle to the normal life of the city, the new Kiev authorities to use power methods (being the product of the Maidan-revolution) categorically does not want and cannot (due to large possible intra- and foreign policy risks). In the process of folding the Maidan camp, in my opinion, the departure from the previous totalitarian power practices solved conflict situations between authorities with citizens-people who, according to the Ukrainian Constitution, was a source of this very power. Against the backdrop of this gradual and generally quite civilized process, confrontation and excesses of the last phase of the liberation of the Maidan from its stuck inhabitants occurred.

This was a complete surprise for me, completely illogical oddity! There are many versions of events and the interpretations of their underlying reasons-from the evil intent of power to the provocative sorties of its opponents, and I see no sense to discuss them due to a lack of reliable data. But it is obvious that the new Kyiv authorities (and the country's authority, in view of the importance of this territory) clearly did not have the resource of experience, skill, endurance, or even just time, man-hours of work (due to the concentration of efforts on the priority tasks of the country's defense). It was not enough to increase "soft pressure" and bring to the logical end the process of post-revolutionary "demilitarization" of the Maidan-territory. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the new government must definitely make a “work on mistakes” in order to insure oneself from such punctures in the future.

It is worth saying another possible, deeper reason that could hold some of the people on the Maidan for so long. This is probably unconscious by many "old -timers" - a feeling of semantic non -conformity of the events of the revolution of dignity. The bitterness of losses, suffering and concern for the wounded in the last, most dramatic and decisive days of the revolution, and after its victory - instantly arising and so far the need to constantly reorient the forces of the revolution to answer new and new challenges, led to the fact that the holiday did not take place, celebrating its goals, his victory. I really hope that Ukrainian society and authorities, using specialists, using the already gained positive experience and the spirit of national unity that arose as a result of the Maidan, will find the right solution, and the free area of independence and Khreshchatyk, Ukraine and the whole world will see the parade of winners - the heroes of the Maidan.
