The Minister of Economics of Ukraine resigned

The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Pavel Sheremet resigned, the Interfax agency reports on August 21 with reference to the press service of the department.

The message clarifies that on August 20, the minister wrote an appropriate statement, which was after that sent to the country's parliament. The reasons for the resignation of the head of the department did not specify the press service.

In turn, Sheremeta himself wrote on his Facebook page that "instead of continuing the battle with the old system, I decided to focus on working with people who create a new one."

After the change of power in Ukraine, the country's economy has serious difficulties. In particular, the loss of Crimea and the war that unfolded in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions had a negative impact on it. These three regions accounted for almost 20% of the country's GDP.

If earlier a five percent reduction was predicted by the Ukrainian economy by the end of the year, now analysts believe that it will be at least 8%. In this regard, the press expressed doubts that the International Monetary Fund in such conditions will continue financial injections, without which the country is threatened with default.

Sheremet was headed by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine in February. Before that, he served as president of the Kyiv school of economics.
