Naftogaz Ukraine intends to return Gazprom $ 10.54 million paid by the Russian concern for gas transit in July 2014. This was reported by UNIAN with reference to the press service of the Ukrainian state-owned company.
“According to our calculations, Gazprom’s advance payments have not yet been completed. We consider the Gazprom payment erroneous, now we deal with this. We plan to return the funds back, ”said Naftogaz.
Naftogaz added that more detailed information on this issue would be provided later. The company recalled that the dispute about the prices of supply and transit of gas with the Russian side has not yet been settled.
In turn, Gazprom explained that previously made advance payments provided for the payment of Naftogaz services for fuel transit until mid -2014, including partly in July. The representative of the concern Sergey Kupriyanov recalled that the surcharge for transit was made, despite the fact that Naftogaz has a significant debt to Gazprom for the supply of natural gas.
The amount of Naftogaz gas debt is estimated by Gazprom at more than $ 5.2 billion. In connection with the accumulated debt since mid -June, Russia transferred Ukraine to the prepaid regime of fuel. After this, the supply of Russian gas to Kyiv stopped; Through Ukraine, only gas transit from the Russian Federation to Europe is carried out.
