Yakunin is reassigned to the head of Russian Railways

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced the extension of the powers of the head of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin. According to the Prime Minister, the relevant order has been signed, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier it was reported that the extension of the Yakunin contract for three years was agreed with the administration of the President of Russia.

“You are an experienced person, since 2005, leading this joint -stock company. It has strategic importance for our country, without a doubt, it was, is and will be,” Medvedev turned to Yakunin. At the same time, the prime minister added that the head of the Russian Railways must first take care of the staff, because it is "the most important wealth that society has."

Vladimir Yakunin has been heading Russian Railways since 2005. Before that, he worked in the transport sector for five years. In the 1990s, Yakunin was involved in the involvement of foreign investment in St. Petersburg, and also held the post of head of the North-West Office of the Main Control Department of the President.

According to the Charter of Russian Railways, the president of the company is appointed by the government for three years and may be reassigned to an unlimited number of times. The next extension was expected back in mid -June.
