One of the standard tourist routes along Novgorod is a trip to the Yuryev Monastery. Bus No. 7 from the stations goes past the famous Povinsky monastery, the Yuryev Monastery of the XII century, the Museum of Wooden Architecture of Vitoslavlitsa, the Domongol Church of the Annunciation on Arkales and the Cemetery in the Temple of Peter and Paul of the same XII century. After that, the bus drives past the church of the Trinity and the famous Trinity excavation, which has been operating for more than a third of the century. Someone overcomes this route by public transport, someone is driving a tourist bus, someone even spends half a day and walks around it on foot. But almost no one knows that it is already not far from the Kremlin, a few hundred meters from this route, there are two interesting monuments: the remains of the Voskresensky monastery on Lake Myachino.
For the first time, the monastery is mentioned in the annals under 1136, then the Resurrection Church burned in it - still wooden. Now in the monastery from the XII century there is nothing left on the surface. However, the larger temple - the resurrection of Christ (it has another, much more rare initiation - the assurances of Thomas) - was built in 1463–1464 and the foundation of the Stone Church 1195-1196. Moreover, in its walls, plinfu (thin brick) and limestone slabs from the old temple were used. Like many Novgorod churches, the greatest destruction went to the Church of the Resurrection in the war. German troops used it as a firing point: the gaps pierced the walls in the walls, the windows for installing the guns raised, and a dugout was arranged against the western wall. This, of course, brought the temple to an emergency state, and the restorers were not able to immediately reach the temple. In 1960, a vault with a drum and head collapsed, part of the southern apse fell. The first stage of restoration was held in the 1960s. Then the temple was blocked by the vault, and the place of the drum and chapters were designated by a wire frame - an interesting solution. So the temple is still standing - with windows and doors laid with brick. Tourists still do not go here.
The second church-John the Gracious-was originally built in the 1420s. Then it was a four -stage temple with an attached to it a unique single -stage ward, dismantled in the XVIII century. A very rare for Novgorod and a wall ringing, such are more characteristic of Pskov. Its remains were opened by excavations. The temple also got during the war - they demolished the head, the apse received a hole, the cornices were partially lost. Restoration was conducted in the same years as the church of the Resurrection.
Therefore, if you find yourself in the Kremlin area and you will have 20-30 minutes, do not be too lazy to get to this interesting place. You will not regret it.
