The sanctions will hit the Art-Moscow

The largest in Eastern Europe Fair of Modern Art of Art Moskva, which should take place from 17 to September 21, may lose many participants because of the sanctions of Western countries against Russia.

This was announced by The Art Newspaper Russia Vasily Bychkov, General Director of Expo Park. Exhibition projects, organizers of the Art-Moscow.

“We have fifty applications for participation: from Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Romania, USA and Canada,” Bychkov listed. He fears that galleries from these countries can refuse to participate at any time.

So, three participants in the SHRISTMAS Time Fair (September 9–12), having fully paid for their participation, demanded money back for political reasons. The first cases of such a boycott were noted at the end of May at Arkh-Moscow. In addition to the Art-Moskva and Christmas Time from the EXPO-Park events, the Non-Fiction Fair of Intellectual Literature may suffer, where Germany was supposed to be one of the topics.

“Until now, about the fate of the 18th Fair of Art Moskva, appointed on September 17–21, nothing definite cannot be informed. "Art-Moscow" should be. But whether she will be, we can’t say so far, ”said Bychkov.

The Director General of the Expo-Park also pointed out another danger: “I can say that at the last Art-Moscow, a cell examination of the material set at the stands was carried out-I will not say who exactly, but people came.”

In June, Expo-Park was held by the Moscow International Book Festival, from the program of which two plays were excluded in which experts of the Ministry of Culture discovered obscene vocabulary and signs of “propaganda of homosexuality”. After that, many participants starred in protest against censorship from the festival.
