Boris Vishnevsky: “More dangerous than the enemy”

“It would seem that acting governor Georgy Poltavchenko has done everything possible and impossible to win the gubernatorial elections in St. Petersburg. Not a single opposition mouse could slip through the municipal filter: only Poltavchenko and four candidates were allowed to participate in the elections, most of all afraid of taking away his extra percentage.

But this is not enough - now, in the best Soviet traditions, there is a competition of devotion among subordinates: who will demonstrate greater zeal to Georgy Sergeevich? Who in the territory under their jurisdiction will provide the best result? Who, when summing up the results, will have the opportunity to look triumphantly at the less fortunate colleagues who gave Georgy Sergeevich 69.9%, while they gave 70.1%?”
