President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed the hope that the EU Council at a meeting in Brussels on Saturday will make a positive decision to introduce a new package of sanctions against Russia, Interfax reports.
"I have no doubt that the EU Council today, after our discussion, will decide to entrust the European commission to prepare the appropriate decision. They will be made or not, depends on how to quickly demonstrate the progress on de -escalation of the situation," Poroshenko said at a meeting with the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barrosa.
On August 30, the President of Ukraine arrived in Brussels, before meeting with Barroz, he held negotiations with the head of the European Council Herman Van Rompeem.
