About 200 people gathered on the Marse Field to demand to stop the armed confrontation in Ukraine. The rally was organized by the Russian socialist movement, but the activists of the “Left Front”, “Party of Progress”, the Russian Socialist Democratic Union of Youth, and LGBT activists also came to it. In the hands of people there were posters: “No war!”, “There will be no winners, they beat their own”, “Stop a meaningless war”, “Putin crossed the line”, “People of the world, save the world”. The speakers emphasized that they did not come to support the Russian military, Ukrainian military or separatists, that the main goal of the action is to express a rejection of hostilities and demand their speedy termination.

They brought expressive posters, from several posters then made a puzzle in the form of a symbol of the world. It is also very good that the musicians supported us - Mikhail Novitsky specially translated the famous anti -war American song “We will overcome”, handed out the leaflets with the text, so he sang, and everyone sang to him in chorus.
In addition to Mikhail Novitsky, musician Vadim Kurylev performed at a rally with his songs. True, there were also attempts of provocations in the form of single pickets with such posters as "we will not exchange the Donbass for Parmesan," but they were not successful. The rally was agreed and ended without incident. According to the organizers, anti -war actions in St. Petersburg will continue, the Radio correspondent Freedom Tatyana Voltskaya reports.
