From the meeting of Presidents Putin and Poroshenko in Minsk on August 26, they did not wait for a breakthrough either to the world, or even to a sustainable truce. But many breathed a sigh of relief. And weak hope. European politicians started talking about the Ukrainian peaceful “road map”, and the Ukrainian press-about the next round of Putin-Poroshenko’s negotiations on August 28 “on the fields” of the inaugural celebrations in Ankara. But not even two days have passed since the separatists in eastern Ukraine went on a counterattack. On the 27th, instead of news about a meeting in Turkey, the agencies reported the capture of the DPR of Novoazovsk-the last city on the border of the Rostov region of the Russian Federation and the Donetsk region of Ukraine, controlled by the Ukrainian military. Its capture provided separatists with access to the sea and operational scope for further attack on Volnovakha and Mariupol. At the same time, according to numerous evidence, the regular units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation took part in the capture of Novoazovsk. Instead of a peaceful “road map”, the whole world, following President Poroshenko, spoke about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
According to NATO information, about 1000 Russian military are present in the Donbass. The “obvious invasion”, condemning him, spoke in European capitals and the USA. And in Russia, meanwhile, in a complete secrecy, the funeral of Russian paratroopers, allegedly killed near Lugansk, was held, human rights organizations reported hundreds of soldiers killed and wounded in the Donbass all week. The Ukrainian security forces were captured - and this is a proven fact - 12 Russian paratroopers. Who are they - prisoners of war or detained "terrorists", as the Donbass separatists are called in Kyiv? The question is with all its acuity, because officially Russia does not wage war with Ukraine. Then how to evaluate everything that happens from the point of view of politics and morality? The New Times traced the fate of the dead and captured paratroopers (p. 20). At the same time, we decided to recall how we buried the victims of other “secret wars” - in Afghanistan and Chechnya.
However, Moscow seems to have decided to play openly: despite the fact that the Kremlin officially denies Russian participation in the conflict, the DPR Prime Minister Alexander Zakharchenko in an interview with the State TV channel Russia-24 unexpectedly declared: yes, there are still Russian military (although they made a reservation that they all decided to hold their vacation in this way). Vladimir Putin, in his appeal on the night of August 29, called on the “militia forces to open the humanitarian corridor” - for the Ukrainian units surrounded by the Ilovaisky, and the separatists immediately agreed with this. But threatening signals are addressed to the indignant West, on the contrary: first Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, and then Putin himself at the Seliger youth forum recalled: Russia is a country with nuclear potential.
When asked where the Donbass separatists and Moscow supporting them will stop, it is difficult to answer. Some experts indicate the approaching season of storms, when the problem of providing Crimea will be especially acute - which means that you need to urgently “cut down” the corridor to the peninsula. Therefore, they say, in the Kherson region of Ukraine, adjacent to the Crimea, groups on social networks have already appeared, calling for a certain “army of the Kherson People’s Republic” to get into the ranks. But the decision in any case will be made in Moscow. Therefore, it is easy to understand those who, in the president’s night appeal, for the first time after the “direct line” of the word “Novorossia” on April 17, and at all Napoleonic plans saw. Especially if you recall: in addition to Donbass and Crimea, the former Novorossiysk province and the Novorossiye-Bessarabian General General, included today's Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Nikolaev, Odessa regions. And also ... Moldova.
