The Strategies-31 campaign, held in St. Petersburg on August 31, resembled the previous shares of activists of the Unregistered Party “Another Russia” only in form: instead of protecting the freedom of assembly, it was dedicated to the events in Ukraine. As usual, the action was not agreed, and at the traditional place of its holding at the metro station "Gostiny Dvor" there was a concert of folk song and dance. Petersburg supporters of Eduard Limonov interrupted the concert of ethnic performers, jumping over metal fences. Treasying “The Glory of Russia!”, “Glory to New Russia!”, “Death of the Kyiv junta” and “Poltavchenko is an accomplice of the Bandera”, they lit a smoke saber and scattered leaflets with the calls of immediate recognition of the Donetsk and Lugansk Republics.
The leaflet scattered by activists also contained a call to boycott the governor elections scheduled for September 14. “The authorities of St. Petersburg, led by Governor Poltavchenko, refused to coordinate the patriotic action in support of Novorossia on Nevsky Prospekt, while national traitors with Ukrainian flags and slogans in support of the Kyiv junta are freely entering the main street of the city,” the leaflet said.
The action lasted a few minutes, after which police and riot police ran up to the protesters and detained seven activists. The leader of the St. Petersburg branch of the unregistered “other Russia” Andrei Dmitriev and his associates Sergey Grebnev, Vladislav Ivakhnik, Andrey Milyuk, Fedor Privalov, Alexander Babich and Ilya Makarov were sent to the car zone. After that, all seven were taken to the 28th police department, the Radio Liberty correspondent Tatyana Voltskaya reports.
On Sunday in Moscow, on the Triumphal Square, activists of another Russia held a campaign of Strategy-31. According to Interfax, the performances of the rally participants were related to the situation in the southeast of Ukraine. According to one of the organizers of the rally of Alexander Averin, about 200 people took part in the action. The event was without incident.
This was the third action allowed by the authorities in the framework of the Strategy - 31 - the movement in defense of the freedom of assembly guaranteed by the 31st article of the Russian Constitution. The leader of the Party "Another Russia" Eduard Limonov was not present at the rally.
