In the Tver region, the head of the criminal investigation department was detained for bribes

The head of the criminal investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Tver region, Vyacheslav Bogatyrev, was detained on suspicion of receiving a bribe from the organizer of an illegal gambling business. Together with him, leadership from several police departments in the region are involved in the case.

The case against Bogatyrev was initiated under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe), and a petition for his arrest will be sent to the court in the near future, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported. Together with the head of the regional criminal investigation department, the deputy head of the Economic Security and Internal Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Tver Region, Nikolai Ocheretov, and the chief of police for operational work of the same department, Sergei Lakotsenin, as well as a former employee of the Economic Security and Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Konakovsky district of the Tver Region, Evgeniy Pavlov, are also involved in the case. According to investigators, the heads of the departments received bribes from Tver resident Shakhin Iskandarov, who controls 50 illegal gambling establishments in the region. Iskandarov - a criminal case has been opened against him under Part 4 of Art. 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving a bribe to an official) - paid police officers for information about inspections and anti-gambling raids, as well as for general patronage. If raids were still carried out at Iskandarov’s casino, then the equipment was returned after them, or even completely confiscated only on paper. The total amount of bribes received by police leaders is about 8 million rubles.
