An administrative case was opened in Perm for tagging a VKontakte video.

The Kirovsky District Court of Perm will consider an administrative case against Evgenia Vychigina, initiated for distributing extremist materials. The persecution of the girl began due to the fact that she was tagged in a video of the “Primorsky Partisans” posted on the Vkontakte network.

The case was initiated by the prosecutor's office of the Kirov district of Perm under Art. 20.29 Code of Administrative Offenses, reports the SOVA center. The Center for Countering Extremism of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region established that Vychigina was noted in a video recording included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials by one of his friends. In addition to her, about 30 people were tagged in the video (we are talking about the video message “The Last Interview of the Primorye Partisans”). Vychigina confirmed the mark, but says she did not watch the video. The girl does not admit guilt and intends to speak at the court hearings, which will take place on Tuesday. The SOVA center noted that this is the first case in the history of Russian justice when a person is being persecuted for a VKontakte mark that he did not place himself. “The administrative prosecution of Evgenia Vychigina seems to us to be unlawful. It is completely unclear what exactly the distribution of extremist materials is that she is charged with: the girl did not produce a prohibited video, did not post a link to it on her page on a social network, and did not even tag this video. It is a widespread practice on social networks to tag friends in photos and videos in order to draw their attention to the material; often dozens of people are tagged in this way, so it is not surprising that Vychigina automatically confirmed the tag and did not watch the video,” human rights activists say.
