1999. Explosion in Buinaksk

15 years ago, on September 4, 1999, a multi -storey residential building was blown up in the Dagestan city of Buinaksk. The GAZ-52 truck, in which there were 2700 kilograms of explosives from aluminum powder and ammonium nitrate, was blown up next to a five-story residential building in which the families of military personnel of the 136th motorized rifle brigade of the Russian Ministry of Defense lived. As a result of the explosion, two entrances of a residential building were destroyed, 64 people were killed, 146 were injured.

The second truck, ZIL-130, was neutralized on September 5.

The organizer of the attack was declared international terrorist Khattab. Eight direct performers and their accomplices were arrested and condemned from 3 years to life imprisonment.
