Vasily Barkhatov leaves the Mikhailovsky Theater

The artistic director of the opera troupe of the Mikhailovsky Theater Vasily Barkhatov leaves his post.

According to Fontanka.ru , citing unofficial sources, such a decision was made due to the inability to combine permanent work in the theater and the implementation of the director’s own projects.

One of these projects will be the opening and closing ceremony of the International St. Petersburg media forum, which will be held at the Exchange building on the Strelka of the Vasilyevsky Island on October 1 and 10.

Vasily Barkhatov (b. 1983) was invited to the Mikhailovsky Theater to the post of artistic director of the opera before the beginning of the summer of 2013. The ambitious plans of the troupe were announced, in particular, the premiere of Evgeny Onegin and the production of the opera Nymkovsky composer Alexei Semyuk.
