“There are various views on the artistic orientation of the theater that did not arise this morning. - Commented Velzer of places. - Dominic Meyer as a director is a number one figure. He is a very glorious person, and he has his own views in artistic matters. It suits him. But then I have to draw the relevant conclusions. ”
The Vienna opera has spread the statement by Meyer, in which he regretfully reports the resignation of the Velzer-space. It follows from the statement that the conductor refused not only from the post of general music director, as the post of chief conductor is called in the Vienna opera, but also from all his performances this season.
“This, of course, is a big loss, and in personal terms I also regret this step very much, because I highly appreciate Franz Velzer-month as an artist and conductor. - says Meyer's statement. - Now my concern and the first task is to find adequate replacements for the performances as soon as possible, which he was supposed to conduct in the 2014/15 season, namely 34 performances, including the planned premieres of Rigoletto and Electra. "
