In the Irkutsk region, a policeman prevented a ninth-grader shepherd from burning down a school

The arson of a rural school was prevented in the early morning of September 5 in the village of Balukhar, Irkutsk region. The fire was noticed and extinguished by a policeman on duty at the polling station, according to a statement from the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Irkutsk Region.

The polling station was located in a wooden building of a rural high school. The detective of the department of economic security and anti-corruption, Maxim Sanilyuk, who was on duty there, discovered a fire during a round at about six in the morning. With the help of available means and the school watchman, the policeman managed to put out the flames.

“An investigative team called from the regional center and detectives from Irkutsk quickly identified the alleged culprit of the incident,” the department said in a statement.

A few hours later they managed to detain a 9th grade student from this school. A 15-year-old teenager, who worked as a local shepherd, admitted to arson. Now law enforcement officers are deciding whether to initiate a criminal case.
