In the Tula region, the prosecutor's office sent materials to the investigative authorities to initiate a criminal case against officials of correctional colony No. 6 in Novomoskovsk, where a prisoner died after a mass brawl at the end of August. On August 27, a mass brawl occurred in IK-6, as a result of which one prisoner died and three received serious injuries. A subsequent investigation by the prosecutor's office revealed "facts of dishonest and negligent attitude towards the service of a number of employees of the specified correctional institution."

Among the violations, the prosecutor's office cited operational and security work that was not carried out by the colony's leadership, clarifies Interfax . In particular, in IK-6 the personal safety of convicts was not adequately ensured; violations of the order of serving the sentence were not identified and prevented. Also, the colony administration did not respond to violations of internal regulations by individual convicts.

The inspection materials were sent to the regional Investigative Committee to resolve the issue of criminal prosecution of colony officials.
