Paleontologists found a skeleton of a giant grassy long dinosaur in Argentina, the length of which was about 26 meters, the height was almost 10 meters, and the weight was about 65 tons. He was named in honor of dreadnoughts (unsinkable battleships that were used at the beginning of the 20th century) and the sponsor of the scientific works of entrepreneur Adam Schrani - Dreadnough Schrani (fearless Schreni).

Experts believe that dreadnought could be even larger. Fragments of the skeleton, which was preserved almost half, suggest that at the time of death the dinosaur has not yet grown to maximum size. The description of the creature is given in the journal Scientific Reports .

Excavations of the skeleton continued from 2005 to 2009, but paleontologists reported the opening of dreadnought only now. The skull of the dinosaur was not preserved, while it was possible to restore about 45% of the bones of the body. Using mirror images of bones located on one half of the body of dreadnought, you can restore about 70% of the total skeleton, including the neck and tail. It is reported that with the help of computer technology, scientists managed to build an approximate three -dimensional model of the entire skeleton.

The dreadnought, which was attributed to titanosaurs, is one of the largest creatures that have ever inhabited the Earth. In terms of dimensions, even seismosaurus is inferior to him, the length and weight of which, presumably, did not exceed 40 meters and 50 tons.

"Dreadnoughhtus Schrani was surprisingly huge. He weighed as a dozen African elephants or seven tyrannosaurs Rex. The state of the skeleton indicates that this 65-ton copy has not yet grown to maximum sizes. The found dinosaur lived about 77 million years ago in the south of Patagonia in Argentina. Its tail was equipped with spikes, and there were three claws on the hind legs. Given the size of dreadnought, scientists suggest that he spent the whole day standing in one place, eating the leaves of trees and other vegetation around him, to which he could reach his long neck.
