The Hawks played one of the most productive matches in the history of the KHL

Yesterday, Raimo Summanen’s team won their second victory in a row on their ice - after “Admiral”, “Avangard” also won against “Vityaz” from Podolsk. Between them, the teams scored 13 goals - 8:5 in favor of the Omsk team.

It is worth noting that at first the match went very poorly for the Omsk hockey players, and nothing foreshadowed a possible victory for the “hawks” with so many pucks. By the tenth minute of the meeting, the Omsk team was losing to the guests with a score of 1:3, Avangard goalkeeper Konstantin Barulin was replaced by Denis Kostin after the third missed goal, and by that time Raimo Summanen had used the right to his only time-out.

A thirty-second break with coaching instructions, as well as the removal of the guests, helped the hosts win back one goal - captain Sergei Kalinin successfully substituted his stick, but Vityaz was able to respond to this with another effective attack. The first period ended with a score of 2:4 and not the best mood on the Avangard bench.

The decisive period was the third twenty minutes, which began with the score 4:5 in favor of the guests. The Avangard hockey players managed to level the score, and then in the 48th minute of the game the hosts took the lead for the first time that evening - 6:5. What happened next for the “hawks” turned out to be a matter of technique - the Vityaz players, who were noticeably weaker physically, simply couldn’t keep up with the hosts in the third period, which led to the guests being sent off, two of which were implemented. Hawks goalkeeper Denis Kostin made several spectacular saves at the end of the match, preventing the Podolsk team from scoring the sixth goal. It was possible to turn the tide of the meeting thanks to the actions of the second attacking trio: Shirokov - Sobotka - Parshin. In addition to them, the Omsk team scored goals from Erik Gustafsson, Andrey Ivanov, and Sergei Kalinin scored twice. As a result, the meeting ended with a strong-willed victory for Avangard with a score of 8:5.

However, despite the five goals conceded, Raimo Summanen was pleased with the outcome of the meeting. “It was a good comeback. Due to the large number of deletions, the players have to expend much more effort, but I am very proud of the guys and how they carried this load,” Raimo Summanen said at the post-match press conference.
