The first deputy head of the capital's transport department, Gamid Bulatov, announced an increase in fares on the Moscow metro in 2015 by an average of 4-5%, RIA Novosti reported on Friday, September 12 .

“We will index exactly below inflation and below the level of actually available wages. The planned option is still being considered, from what period to index next year. The growth will definitely not exceed 4-5%,” Bulatov said.

The head of the Moscow Metro, Dmitry Pegov, for his part, noted that single passes are more popular among passengers of the capital’s subway, while single tickets are being purchased less and less. According to him, the Moscow metro carries 8.5 million passengers every day.

The previous increase in fares for transport in the capital occurred on June 1, 2014. The average increase in tariffs then was 7%. At the same time, carriers initially advocated increasing tariffs by 30-40%, but the government and the mayor of Moscow did not support this initiative.

As a result of the increase in tariffs, the cost of a ticket for 11 trips on ground transport, a ticket for 20 trips, a single ticket for five trips, a ticket for 60 trips and a single ticket for 30 days has increased.
