Estonia with the allies will do everything to return from Russia their citizen, security officer Eston Kokhver. This was stated by President Toomas Hendrick Ilves at a meeting of the State Defense Council in Tallinn, Interfax reports . The meeting was held at the initiative of the president.
"The abduction of a citizen of the Republic of Estonia, the security officer of Eston Kokhver from the territory of Estonia and his delivery to prison to Moscow contradicts international law," the head of state said.
Meanwhile, at Tuesday, at the border point of Luhamaa, a meeting of representatives of the border services of Estonia and Russia was appointed, reports Postimees. It will continue to discuss the case of violation of the border on September 5.
Four hours after the incident with Kokhver, the security police officers inspection the place of the coming. Representatives of both parties confirmed that the violation of the border occurred in the direction from Russia to Estonia and vice versa. This was recorded in the document signed by assistants to representatives of the border services from both sides.
The main representatives had to sign the protocol on September 8, but the meeting did not bring results. The Russian side did not appear for the next meeting, which was supposed to take place two days later. According to the Medkarian agreement, if border guards are not able to reach consent in this matter, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will deal with the solution to the problem.
On September 5, the Center for Public Relations of the FSB of Russia stated that Kokhver was detained in the Pskov region, while the detainee conducted an intelligence operation. A Taurus pistol with cartridges, money in the amount of 5 thousand euros, special equipment for hidden audio recordings, as well as materials that have the nature of the intelligence task," the Center for Social Relations of the FSB said.
In Estonia, they insist that Kokhver was abducted by the Russian special service in Estonian territory. He "performed official duties to prevent a cross -border crime" near the border point of Luhamaa. “We can be sure that the beginning of this incident was laid on the territory of the Estonian Republic. Of course, if a person was pulled through the control line on the Russian side, then this incident continued there, but it began on the Estonian side,” said Estonia Minister Hanno Pevour. “Active work is underway so that the citizen of Estonia and the police officer to get home as soon as possible.”
On September 7, the Lefortovo court of Moscow chose a preventive measure in the form of a detention in the case of espionage in relation to Kokhver. The meeting was held closed. A citizen of Estonia threatens from ten to twenty years in prison in the event of a conviction.
