
. . .The Moscow retrospective Derek Jarmen, alas, was without his last - and the main thing - the film “Blue”. Jarmen shot him, dying from AIDS, almost blinded - but the loss of vision did not prevent him from making an indescribable picture, exciting the viewer much more than most figurative films. Also, the formal absence of “Blue” in the program of retrospective should not serve as an obstacle to a conversation about what this film was for the 90s-and how we see it now.
