The best airports in the world in pictures from Instagram

Only four airports in the world at different times received five stars according to the international classification of the British consulting company Skytrax. TJournal found out what each of them looks like through the eyes of Instagram users.

At the end of August, Haneda Airport in Tokyo was shortlisted as a five-star airport by Skytrax. The 5-Star Airport rating takes into account quality of service, terminal design, innovation and convenience for passengers, both in the provision of basic services and in matters of internal infrastructure. In total, about 300 parameters are estimated.

Haneda became the fourth airport in the world to be awarded five stars. The other three are in South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong. TJournal took a look at each of them using photos from Instagram.

Haneda, Tokyo

Haneda is one of two airports serving the Japanese capital, along with Narita International Airport. It began operations in 1931 and is currently responsible mainly for domestic flights and some transport to Asian countries. However, the international importance of the airport is expected to increase for the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020. A similar thing already happened during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, when the airport was connected to the city using an innovative monorail at that time.

Incheon, South Korea

The largest airport in the country was opened in early 2001, 70 kilometers from Seoul. On its territory there are not only restaurants and hotels, but also casinos, massage rooms, a winter garden and golf courses. Incheon is located on a relatively small island, and you can get to the city from it not only by bus, taxi or train, but also by ferry.

Changi, Singapore

The airport opened in 1981 and has won more than 280 professional awards over the years. In particular, in 2013 it received the World Airport Awards, becoming the best airport in the world according to Skytrax.

Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong

Hong Kong International Airport was built on an artificial island, increasing the administrative area by 1%, and began operations in 1998. It is considered one of the busiest airports in the world for the transport of international passengers and cargo.
