The next round of negotiations of Iran and the “six” international intermediaries under a nuclear program, planned for Friday, was canceled due to the “lack of progress”. This was stated by French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, reports Reuters.
“At the moment, there is no significant success,” said Fabius on the sidelines of the meeting of the UN General Assembly. “Due to the lack of progress, the meeting has been canceled.” The head of the French Foreign Ministry did not specify at what level the negotiations were planned. Previously, diplomatic sources reported that ministers should meet.
There will be no ministerial meeting of the six with Iran, the head of the Russian delegation, the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry Sergei Ryabkov, confirmed to RIA Novosti. In addition to Russia and France, the number of intermediaries includes the United States, China, Great Britain and Germany.
On Thursday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said at a meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York that his country could expand the interaction with the West in the struggle against the Islamic State radical group if it is possible to sign an agreement on the nuclear issue with the "six" of international intermediaries.
On September 5, Reuters reported with reference to the confidential report of the International Atomic Energy Agency that Iran failed to fulfill all the agreements to ensure the transparency of his nuclear program within the appointed time . The authorities of Iran managed to realize only three out of five agreements. In particular, Iran did not allow IAEA inspectors to two nuclear facilities. According to experts, there may be work to create nuclear weapons.
Nevertheless, it was noted in the IAEA that a certain progress was still achieved. So, the reserves of low -enriched uranium, raw materials for a nuclear bomb, were reduced in Iran from May to August of this year from 8475 to 7765 kilograms.
Until November 24, an agreement should be developed that guarantees an exclusively peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program in exchange for the full abolition of international sanctions against Tehran.
In April, the head of the Iranian nuclear energy organization Ali Akbar Salehi said that Iran completed all work to reduce the level of enrichment of Uranus from 20 to 5 percent. They were carried out in accordance with the obligations that the country took upon itself in the framework of the Geneva Agreements. The Magate confirmed that Iran should be taken by the obligations in the nuclear sphere and to the present moment neutralized about half of his reserves of highly enriched uranium. In this regard, the United States defrosted Iran’s assets of $ 450 million.
In November 2013, Iran and the “six” of international intermediaries came to an agreement , according to the conditions of which Tehran partially suspenses the nuclear program, in particular, reduces the reserves of uranium enriched to 20 percent, in exchange for facilitating the regime of the Islamic Republic.
