
Euromaidan was awarded the award Lech Valensa. This was reported by Radio Liberty. On Monday, a reward was presented in Gdansk. The Euromaidan was represented, in particular, the leader of the blow and the mayor of Kyiv Vitaly Klitschko, the leader of Freedom Oleg Tyagnibok, the former commandant of the Maidan and ex-secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andrei Parubiy, singer Ruslan.
Klitschko, speaking at the ceremony, called the Lech Valensa award "a reward of millions of Ukrainians who rose in the struggle for their freedom and their future, for democracy and justice." This award, the politician noted, "is also a recognition of the European aspirations of Ukraine, which for its European choice shed blood."
Valensa personally handed representatives of Euromaidan a medal, as well as a check of 100 thousand dollars.
The award of Lech Valensy, the former leader of the Solidarity trade union and the ex -president of Poland, has been awarded annually since 2008 for his contribution to cooperation between the peoples, to the struggle for freedom and the promotion of the values of "solidarity". Among her laureates are the Iranian human rights activists Shadi Sadr, the sister of Ladan and Roy Borumand, the organization of Polska akcja Humanitarna and its leader Janina Okhoyskaya, the leader of the Belarusian human rights center Vasna, Ales Belyatsky, who was in custody at the time of the award.
