Rasmussen: NATO will increase the presence in Eastern Europe

NATO will increase the number of aircraft in the air, ships in the sea and troops in the territory of the Eastern Europe states. According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by the former Secretary General of Anders, FAG Rasmussen in an article published in The Independent, summing up the results of his five -year leadership of the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to him, NATO will maintain a constant presence in Eastern Europe. "We will also organize the strike forces of quick response that can give an answer to the crisis that arises in the east or south in a matter of days," he added.

According to Rasmussen, at the NATO summit in Wales, all the necessary steps were taken to protect the alliance of the alliance "from threats from any direction."

Earlier, that the return to the format of relations between Russia and NATO is not considered in principle, in an interview with the Norwegian Telegraph Bureau, the former head of the Norwegian government Jens Stoltenberg, who will officially take the post of General of NATO, replacing Foga Rasmussen.

“A return to the format is not considered as an option,” Stoltenberg said. “Russia decided to adhere to a more aggressive line. Therefore, we cannot, as we hoped earlier, continue to strengthen partnership with Russia.”
