Established Award Arkady Dragomoshchenko

In St. Petersburg, on the basis of the cultural platform of the independent bookstore of intellectual literature “The Word Procedure”, the Arkady Dragomoshchenko Award was established, which will be awarded annually by Russian -speaking poets not older than 27 years old.

The award is designed to identify relevant poetic practices that acutely respond to a challenge of time and contribute to a new understanding of the “poetic”, according to the Prize website . The work of the award, in turn, should contribute to an adequate assessment of new directions and capabilities of writing, the development of discussion around the authors of the young generation.

The Board of Trustees of the award, chaired by Zinaida Dragomoshchenko, includes a poet and journalist Elena Fanailova, poet, prose writer, translator and critic Alexander Skidan, philosopher Artemy Magun, writer and philologist Mikhail Jossel, poet and film critic Konstantin Shavlovsky, poet Galina Rimbu (curator of the award).

The submission of applications for the prize is carried out by nomination. In 2014, a collegium of 20 nominators participates in the prize, including curators, poets, critics, publishers. Each of them nominates a selection (or project of a book) of one author. 20 nominated authors form a long-list of premium.

Further, the nominators along with the jury by closed voting choose three finalists. The choice of the laureate is carried out by the jury as a result of open public debate on the eve of the vote. In 2014, the jury included Alexander Skidan (chairman of the jury), Mikhail Yampolsky, Dmitry Kuzmin, Anna Glazova, Stanislav Lviv, Alexander Ilyanen.

Long-list of the award will be published on October 5, Short List-November 5. Presentation of the award and related events will be held on November 22–23 in the "Word Prince" and on the new stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater. It is also planned to confuse the annual poetic readings of the poet’s memory, prose writer and translator Arkady Dragomoshchenko (1946–2012) to the award.

The size of the main award is 70 thousand rubles. Also, the holder of the main award receives the opportunity to publish a book in the poetic series "New Poems" of the publishing house "Order of Words". The finalists receive two incentive bonuses of 20 thousand rubles.
