The Moscow City Court today is expected to announce the decision to defend the liberation of the former mayor of Yaroslavl Evgeny Urlashov on bail of 15 million rubles.
Yesterday, at the hearing, where the extension of the arrest of Urlashov, accused of receiving a bribe, was considered before January 3, the lawyer appealed to the court with a request to be released on bail or premises under house arrest.
The founder of the Civil Platform party, billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov , is ready to introduce 15 million rubles of pledge. He intends to provide the former mayor of Yaroslav in Moscow if the court agrees to transfer Urlashov under house arrest.
Urlashov was detained in July last year on charges of bribes and extortion. The court temporarily removed him from the post of mayor of Yaroslavl. He does not find guilty and calls criminal prosecution politically motivated. In the elections of the mayor of Yaroslavl in April 2012, Urlashov, representing the opposition "civilian platform", defeated the candidate from "United Russia".
