This was reported by Interfax with reference to the BNS Latvian information agency.
The press secretary of the Latvian Foreign Ministry, Karlis Eichenbaums, confirmed the agency that Russia entered the “black list” of several citizens of Latvia. At the same time, he did not confirm and did not deny the fact that they were Maisitis, Yudins and Hermanis.
“Apparently, Russia was simply guided by its understanding of motivation - not to remain“ in debt ”with Latvia. We do not consider this approach neither reasonable nor constructive, ”he said.
“We survived - Alvisu Hermanis was banned from entering Russia. A person who staged some of the best performances in the works of Chekhov, Pushkin, Gogol, Goncharov, Gorky, Sorokin, the best performance by Vasily Shukshin, now puts Ilf and Petrov ... few in the world so subtly feels Russian culture and dramaturgy as Hermanis, ”the theater critic commented on his Facebook, The art director of the NET festival, Deputy Artistic Director of the Theater of Nations Roman Dolzhansky.
At the end of July, by the decision of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars Rinkevich, Russian performers Oleg Gazmanov, Iosif Kobzon and Alla Perfilova, who performed under the stage pseudonym Valery, were included in the “black list” of persons who are prohibited from entering the country. The reason for the ban was that the artists supported the accession of Crimea to Russia. As a result, the artists could not take part in the international competition of young performers of popular music “New Wave”.
