The local historian and writer Yuri Pirutko died

Today, October 3, in St. Petersburg at the age of 68, the local historian and writer Yuri Pyrythko, head of the memorial sculpture of the State Museum of City Sculpture, died.

Yuri Minaevich Pirutko was born in 1946 in Tashkent, in 1969 he graduated from Leningrad State University with a specialty historian-art.

In 1970-1973, he worked as the director of the Gatchina Museum of Local Lore, in 1973 he moved to Leningrad, began to work at the State Museum of the History of Leningrad, in which he headed the memorial sculpture department since 1977.

Published since 1971, the author of many books on the history of St. Petersburg and its environs, in 1998 under the pseudonym K.K. Rotikov published the book “Another Petersburg” - a historical outline of Russian homosexual culture. Antsiferovsky Prize winner (1996).
